Mary’s Cottage has a Wonderful View of the foothill ridges of the Smoky Mountains into Sevierville. The Queen bedroom has a flat-screen TV with DVD Player. The Great Room has a Gas Log Fireplace and also a new flat screen TV with DVD. There is a large private deck with table/chairs and view of the Koi pond on the lower level – a summer delight with many flowers on a 4 1/2 acres private estate. As you enter the secluded driveway with covered parking for 1 car, you will have a peaceful setting for a relaxing vacation.

This cottage is in a gated 1300 acre community close to the Pigeon Forge city limits. Shagbark only has about 246 cabins scattered throughout the wooded hills and year round creek that will make you think you are in the Smoky Mountain National Park. Wild turkeys, raccoons and bears wander throughout the forests. Please be careful and do NOT feed the animals.

The drive to Shagbark is almost the same elevation as Pigeon Forge. You will enter along Clear Fork Creek off Waldens Creek off Wears Valley Road at the Pigeon Forge city limits. Once you leave the Clear Fork Creek area the last part of the road does become narrow and steeper but Mary’s Cottage is well worth the trip. I drive it easily with a Honda Odyssey. Welcome to the foothills of the Smoky Mountains and an amazing view!

Area Information

Shagbark is very private, close to the parkway in Pigeon Forge and easily accessed from back roads when town is busy.

This cabin is in a beautiful private resort with plenty of space between cabins. Close to Dollywood, Splash Country, Golf Course, the Artist/Craftsmen Loop, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and the Smoky Mountain National Park.

Property Review

  • Thank you so much for our enjoyable stay. You have a beautiful place. So quiet and tranquil. My grandson loved the frogs and koi pond. More than enough room for us to stay. We appreciated your friendly hospitality. Close enough to the parkway but far enough away to enjoy quiet. Thank you again for having us on July 4th weekend.

Thank you for allowing us to stay at your cottage for the Memorial day weekend. This was a short, but very pleasant and peaceful stay. We truly appreciate your friendly hospitality and company. Thanks for making us feel so welcome. Our children will also remember you and this stay. Our daughter enjoyed feeding the fish at the Koi pond and our son was impressed by the way it was built. You truly have a beautiful home in a breathtakingly wonderful location. And thank you for considering all the necessary amenities for a family on vacation. It was a very comfortable stay for us. We surely look forward to come back and hopefully spend more time at your cottage. We wish you the best !

  • So many nice things to say about Mary's Cottage! We were there for a short weekend getaway to the Smokies. Tony met us as soon as we pulled up. He was friendly, funny, accommodating, and we only saw him twice - when we arrived and when we left. The cottage was very cozy and quiet. All of the things you need to cook with are there. The hot tub is lovely and the pond down below is beautiful. This place is clean, cheerful, and affordable and I hope we can go back one day.

  • A great apartment in a secluded environment- Mary's Cottage Catherine responds quickly to booking requests and questions. Tony is the friendly onsite host. As a team they make your stay efficient and enjoyable. The apartment is handicapped accessible and friendly. Though that wasn't a our need, it's mentioned to help others considering this listing. It has a well stocked kitchen, a laundry with full size washer and dryer, a very comfortable queen size bed, living room with fire place and nice deck. Arriving in daylight will make finding Mary's Cottage easier. You will receive directions and a pass at the front gate. But it's easy to miss a turn and you are in a mountainous development with hundreds of acres and some steep roads. Once you arrive the down route is easy to follow. It's just getting there the first time that can be a bit of a challenge. As for things to do- Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountain National Park are all within 20-30 minutes. We did a lot of hiking in the park: Day 1- Alum Cave Bluffs & Mount Le Conte (10+ miles round trip, top of 6953 feet) Day 2- Laurel Falls, then a 45 minute drive to Smoky Mountain Outdoors in Hartford, TN for white water rafting. We did the upper section with level 1-4 rapids. A great time. We highly recommended this company. Professional, skilled and fun guides made the challenge of the rapids very doable and enjoyable. Then up to Clingmans Dome to watch the sunset. Warning- it's much cooler on the top and you are exposed to the wind that accents the cold. Be sure to have a jacket or sweatshirt or both! Day 3- We explored Cade's Cove old homes, churches, mill on an 11 mile loop. Its open your bicycles at 7-10AM, bike rentals are available $7.50 per hour starting 7:30- confirm that opening time. We had a great time and Mary's cottage was a comfortable place to begin and end our day. Thanks Catherine and Tony! Al & Kris

  • Mary's Cottage is a gem! The house is beautiful and the location is out of this world. It's a bit out of town, but worth the extra drive. The views are beautiful and the experience of being out in the Smokies is wonderful. The hot tub hit the spot after a day of hiking. Tony, owner of the property is wonderful. We really enjoyed talking with him. An amazing man. Catherine who runs the listing was very responsive and helpful. I would highly recommend a stay at Mary's Cottage.
